The conditions for network interconnection represent one of the most
important parameters for liberalising the telecommunications sector.
9 April 1997 : France Télécom interconnection
catalogue is published. It presents rates and technical
conditions for
connection to France Télécom's telephone network. This catalogue concerns
all the operators which will offer a telecommunications
network open to the public in France. It was certified by the Authority for the
regulation of telecommunications (ART) which examined it in terms of its
conformance to the law on the regulation
of telecommunications and the
decree on interconnection. To obtain the France Telecom's

6 March 1997 : in an interview given
to Le Monde newspaper, François Fillon, French minister in charge
of telecommunications,
commented on the decree on interconnection and expressed his thoughts on the
future "catalogue of interconnection services and associated pricing
levels".
