inform all Internet users, and especially professionals working in the sectors covered by the ministry, on action and decisions taken by the Government in these sectors. For the moment, information is available in English and French

make available information which is precise and reliable. Optimise each page so that display is as fast as possible

make available on-line details of laws, study and reference documents, which you may need (entire text of certain laws, summaries, or details of where they can be found)

present the organisation of the ministry in a clear way so that you can contact the person or department you require as quickly and easily as possible. But also offer the addresses of those involved in these sectors (institutions, research centres and professional organisations)

links to servers which offer complementary information

answer your specific questions through email

give you the chance to comment through the forums

Method and schedule :

two meetings in August 1995 with Ministerial departments and the Minister's office to define the goals and schedule

call for tender published in the Official Journal for public markets on 21 September 1995

18 propositions received

4 propositions short-listed after approval by the Government information department

13 October 1995: the four companies were given a register of conditions and relative information to produce a prototype

26 October 1995 : prototypes presented to an evaluation committee

10 November : choice of the service provider (Atos)

30 November 1995 to 1 February 1996: completion of the first phase with 80 pages of information as well as 250 pages of reference documents in two languages.

1 February 1995 to 30 March 1996: second phase designed to consolidate all sections and extend the information base.

Since April 1996: information constantly updated, with the introduction of new sections, such as Elsewhere, Philately, Internet.
