The Directorate of Posts and Telecommunications (DPT).

The DPT prepares and sets up the regulation framework for the information highways and services, in conjunction with the SJTI for audiovisual matters.

It is preparing the international commitments in conjunction with the SERICS.

The department of communication and service industries (SERICS)

The SERICS coordinates the development of the information highways and services at an interministerial level. In this capacity, it organised the call for proposals made by the Ministry on 23 November 1994.

Moreover, the SERICS contributes to financing research and industrial development in this area.

The Inter-industry group (GII)

The inter-industry group brings together the main French players involved in the information highways and services, namely, Alcatel-Cit, Afnor, Axime, Compagnie bancaire, France Telecom, Générale des Eaux, IBM France, Galeries Lafayette, Matra Hachette, Microsoft, Sligos...

The inter-industry group set itself the object of promoting, accelerating and developing the information highways and services in France as well as opening them up to Europe and the world.

For the months to come, it has two priority themes to consider :

-the development of electronic trade

-the development of public telecommunication services, medium and broadband, open to all consumers.

The inter-industry group benefits from the support of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications.

Any company, regional council or state body wishing to join the inter-industry group would be most welcome.
