As expected, the proposal is pretty bad from the point of view of anyone interested in the dissemination of public information. The law implements the sui generis ban on extraction of information from databases but it does create the possibility of the government excepting certain of its own databases from the sui generis right. I am doing the little bits that I can do to make the right people realise the detrimental effects this is likely to have on the development of truly free access for the public o official information but I sincerely doubt that this will help. I will keep you posted on developments as they occur. Does anyone else kow what the status is of other national implementation proposals? Kind regards, Pavle Bojkovski.
